My son was nearly 12lb when he was born......(5.5kg)....and he could fit in a 00.........just.
So I would not buy smaller than that.

00, the items usually have for what weight also. Bear in mind, different brands, different sizes, what is 00 in one brand might be 000 in another.

LOL at the baby sizes.
We(U.S.A.) have preemie, newborn, 3 months, 6 months, 12 months, 18, 24. The weird thing is that they also make a 2T. I don't really know what the difference is between a 24 month, and 2T. Isn't that the same age?
It definitely makes more sense to buy the clothes based on weight, and not age.
A 9 lb baby would wear 3 to 6 month size, and not for long.
Congratulations to whoever has the new big baby.
If the item you are buying has feet in it, buy the bigger size.

OMG that's huge for a newborn, almost the size of 2 babies. It is the size of two very small newborns.
My niece was 4lb 11oz at birth (full term and healthy), all my boys were around 7.5 lb.

2T is for tall 2 year olds.
Go the 00 or 0 I say because if she has lots of small (000 or 0000) they'll be looking for larger very soon.
