What a drama!

So the rabbit has just raced in the house from the back yard faster than I have ever seen him run with this black thing running behind it. In the blur it looked like a panther!

It was a freaking cat!

I've just spent the last 20mins trying to make the terrified rabbit safe whilst trying to get this stray cat out of my house. I had to boot the cat to get him to move away from the rabbit. And then he wouldn't leave the house.

The rabbit refuses to come out of his hiding spot and my leg is bleeding from being clawed by this blooming cat.

What the heck! It's not like the rabbit is a tiny little thing that could be mistaken for a mouse.

Why can't people keep their stupid cats inside? I am sick to death of not being able to keep my own pets safe and secure in their own house because people allow their cats to roam during the day.

What a drama!

I'm a well known cat-lover and I hate animal cruelty but if some feral cat came racing after a beloved pet of mine and then gave me attitude when I was defending said beloved pet, I'd want to kick it to the shirthouse too!

It all comes down to responsible pet ownership.

Poor bloody cat thought it had a sure dinner when it got outrun by a WABBIT of all things.

Wabbit is a blardy good runner and knows where to hide to save his hide.

So how would the experts have gotten this cat out of my house and away from my rabbit? ?:|

Having given this question a great deal of thought, and given that you were not informed prior to the attack that there was intent, and you did not have time to pop down to the shed/shop and pick up a net, I can only agree with the method used, as long as the cat was not mortally wounded or even requiring a vet, which I assume it wan't.

And bravo to you for having saved your rabbit without harming any animals then or whilst making this thread;-)

Wouldn't that be a dream - that all those people I have on ignore would also put me on ignore.

Although in this case I suspect that they probably realise my actions were the only sensible actions. 😉

Why don't you just eat the rabbit, I am told rabbit stew is very nice.

I have a great ginger desexed tom that adopted us and he follows us around like a dog. He is clean, sleeps inside of a night and has a litter tray in the garage. Does not poop on the grass or on the neighbours lawn like a dog and I don't have to take him for a walk and pick up poops. He has his nails clipped, has a bath and is no trouble when we go away for a night or 2 like a dog.

Keep it nice, I might cry if you write anything upsetting (like not)

The stupid cat wasn't wounded channy's mum. The thing lunged straight back after hitting the wall. Cats aren't exactly delicate things.

Although I will be honest - taking care NOT to hurt it was not uppermost in my mind. I could see my rabbit was about to make a move so instinct kicked in. And if I hadn't managed to finally get the thing out of the room, I WOULD have hurt it if it meant the difference between my rabbit surviving or not.

Sorry if that offends anyone but my pet had my priority.:|

Yeah.

Next time I will be sure to post a thread on CS asking what I should do BEFORE any action is taken.

I am sure that with everyones expert advice I will then handle the situation in a much more acceptable manner.

In the meantime I had best invest in the following:

  • a cat trap,

  • a large net,

  • some posionous baits,

  • a new dog

  • bigger boots

  • a stewing pot

as I am sure one of the experts will recommend one or all of the above solutions when the situation arises again.

geez..... no need  to get so excited...I only suggested the cat trap if there was an ongoing problem with stray cats coming to your back yard....

xena I think you are over dramtising it, if the cat was hurt which to me sounds it wasn't I am sure  it would have been laying on martini's floor screaming in pain if it was but no instead it was keen and eager to keep on the attack martini had every right to try and protect her pet and rightly so as channy pointed out if anyone cared enough for their pet they would be protecting it too.

I object to her apparent cruelty because of the way she has described what happened - she kicked the cat and it hit a wall and I think she kicked it more than once. It should not have entered her home and she wanted to evict it as soon as possible but causing it pain was not the best way to solve the problem. I understand the situation and I know how painful scratches are. When I was carrying my young cat early this year he became scared and clawed me so I let him go. I've always found the best thing to do is to leave a cat alone when it's aggressive or scared.
