The female list is easy:
But I couldn't quite find 10 men:

What an original thread - I wonder where you got the idea, OP?
I agree wholeheartedly about Cher. People today forget what an important actress she was in the mid to late 80's. Her films were not only critical successes, but worldwide blockbuster hits. She is one of the few actresses to win both the Oscar and Best Actress at the Cannes Film Festival (twice) and the only singer to achieve this. The only singers to come close to her critical and commercial success in movies is Liza Minelli and Barbara Streisand and they didn't have nearly as many hits. They also won Oscars (Streisand tied with Katherine Hepburn) for musical roles whereas Cher won for a dramatic performance in Moonstruck. I'll always believe in you, Cher.

Moonstruck is one of my favourite movies.

Moonstruck is one of my favourite movies.
I haven't even seen it, Martini! LOL, but I have seen her in "Silkwood" , "The Mask"" and "Suspect". Even in lighter fare like "The Witches of Eastwick" and "Mermaids" she is terrific. I also think Bette Midler had an interesting career for a while, but she didn't have the range and hits Cher had.

Juliette Lewis was great. I loved her in What's Eating Gilbert Grape.
My other favourites are
Toni Collette (as I said)
Jodi Foster. Loved her from when she was a child actor.
The one that got off with Andrew Peacock. That would be Shirley Maclaine.
Audrey Hepburn because she was just so beautiful in her movies.

Hi Joono Bayyyyybee! The women you mentioned are fine actresses, but do you really belive any of them are underrated. Jodie Foster has won two oscars, Audrey Hepburn and Shirley Maclaine one apiece and Toni Collette is well respected in the US (emmy nod) Perhaps Juliette Lewis is a little underrated. I don't find women who look like they only change their underwear every 2 weeks, appealing, but I acknowledge that she has talent.

My ten best men in their day.
Paul Newman. I loved him in Cool Hand Luke.
Cary Grant
John Wayne
Christopher Walken in just about anything he's done which is a whole lot.
Al Pacino
Robert De Niro
Getting younger now -
Brad Pitt
Johnny Depp
Robert Downey Jnr
One more to go? I'll save it.

pretoria, most actors seem to be overrated to you. It's much nicer when you try to see the positives in life.

Actually, I agree with you. However if you had read one of my earlier comments, you will understand why I'm not mentioning who I like. For every person I dislike I have 25 that I do. I will respond to your list tho. The only male that I think is underrated is Paul Newman - the rest on your male list are more or less terrible - I think a few are on my overrated list. Newman was great in "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" and "Sweet Bird of Youth". He was also bisexual and had a long term affair with Robert Wagner who in turn had a long term affair with Christopher Walken (when Newman dumped him because Wagner's career was slumping) and Natalie Wood caught them having sex the night she died. She was so enraged she tried to leave the boat in a dingi, hit her head and drowned in the water.
