What an absolute travesty.

It would serve the Home Office here well, if they'd concentrate on the really illegal European immigrants who are living by their wits in the shape of thieving, drug dealing, trafficking, and illegally working, instead of hounding a nice family who are doing everything by the letter of law in order to maintain that they are allowed to continue their lives productively, and without harassment.

Full marks to actor Tom Conti for trying to help, by donating £3,000 to the Brain family's bank balance.

What an absolute travesty.

I don't know how long one has to live in the UK to be granted citicenship.

If the family wanted to remain in the UK, that would have been my first train of thought. Living on a Visa anywhere in this world does not mean permanent residency. And why did they leave all aplications to the last minute?

I think there is more to this story. A side we have not heard of.

The terms of the visa are not a state secret. Subsequent changes to visa rules may happen and if they do it is up to the visa holder to comply with those changes.

If the Brain family has flouted the visa rules they must be shown the door.
