i had to tick that in support of the poor bears lol
i guess what prompted me to ask for others point of view is the policy against hate speech on here but I do want to know what people consider hate speech to be generally too.
As I stated in my op I define hate speech as racism and bigotry on the boards and in general life.
Arguing with someone's point of view is a difference of opinion, not what I consider hate speech, but obviously not everyone sees it that way.
also name calling to me does not fall under the umbrella of hate speech, unless the names are racially or bogotry (i now thats not the right word but it will do) motivated.

I'm thinking that on a site that is owned and moderated by a company with it's own legal responsibilities (regardless of 'possibility' that they may/may not be sued) and image to protect ..does it matter if we would or wouldn't sue anyone who posted hate speech to us ? It's not just about what we as individuals are OK with is it ?

It is probably more related to what some are getting sanctioned for on here, not a legal thing, as some appear to be exempt from the rules and others can't disgree even politely without being sanctioned.

Iza, I wasn't suggesting Lithium might be sued. I asked whether we were discussing a legal definition of hate speech or Lithium's definition.
As it turns out Pepe wasn't asking about either - only about what our personal definitions were
