What happens when you buy cheap imports???

We end up with no choice but to buy those foreign imports...

If we don't take action and support our industries then we will be left unable to feed ourselves .. it is happening one item at a time.

I am really sorry that this has happened in Tasmania..

I shop at Aldi but can't get aussie peas there so I buy them at Woolies.... I make the specific trip to buy aussie items to support our local growers...

I wish there was more that I could do... but I am just one person out of 20 million....

I will continue to buy my Aussie peas and I hope that others take 20 seconds out to read the back of the pack and make sure your produce is 100% aussie grown and packed...

Thanks Martini...I'll look 'em up.......I REFUSE to buy polyester track pants...like WHO DOES THAT?.

Cotton was always used in Aussie trackies for a reason....I won't buy the OS BS mass produced stuff because I seriously can't wear it.  It doesn't absorb sweat so you end up feeling like you're wearing GLADWRAP pants.  :_|

Who buys polyester anything?

The other thing about China-made underwear is that it si so small. Like I'm a size 12 Aussiebum but I'm lucky to fir into a size 18 China-made Kmart pair of undies. And even then, they are like a tourniquet on my lady bits.

Exactly my point too OP....Well said.

But you DO have a choice. We go without rather than buy anything made in China.

And there is nearly always an Aussie alternative. It just takes some work to find it.

Often the big supermarkets won't buy from small suppliers so we buy direct from factories. It means we buy i bulk but thats OK. At the moment we have 2 boxes of canned asparagus that we bought somewhere (about 50 cans lol!) and at least 1 years worth of Cedel toothpaste!

:_|...Whyyyyyyyyyyyyy.....  This is my point also Martini..OUR USELESS GOVT...Red and/or Blue...NEED TO GET BEHIND AUSSIE MADE.  This blame the victim BS is lost on me...ie, it's our fault if we don't buy Australian....Crikey, we would if we could find 'em.

I think someone has to start another Aussie Home Grown campaign and we'll all thumb our noses at the big chains who WON'T STOCK Aussie made.....

But it can't be led by the blinking Govt or Opposition...they couldn't find their bums with both hands when it comes to being creative or inspiring, let alone innovative...... so we have to SAVE OURSELVES in spite of 'em  ( = useless egomaniacal bog of political stench that they all are)...lol  That felt really good.:^O

You can't even see the irony of your own statement can you? 😐

If the unions had even a speck of the degree of power you lot think they have do you seriously think our industries would be shutting their doors to take their manufacturing overseas?

I think your statement should be reversed - the same posters complaining about how useless unions are, are also complaining that our Australian industries are suffering from the effects of inports.

But I didn't bring that point up on cats thread in respect for her topic.

It's simple - buy everything Australian made and/or from an Australian owned company. And if you can't buy it in this country/made by this country then don't buy it all. That's what we do.

What sort of computer are you typing away on?

It's actually a second hand something or other. If we can't buy Australian made then we do what we have to do to not buy anything from overseas.

But what has that to do with your unions jibe? ?:|
