It's just that quite a few voters don't really understand politics but actually believe what politicians say. You'd have thought they'd learned their lesson last time they voted for the LNP.

Unfortunately, the alternative also leaves a lot to be desired.

Actually, it is more that they believe that LNP government is in their interest.  However unless they are in the top few % income bracket, they are deluded.  Whatever problems with ALP, they always benefit wider community.
