I really enjoyed that last night. It was well balanced, it sounds like and extremely dangerous drug for some people

Some of the tests they have done with mice and rats prove some very interesting things about statistics on addiction.

"Lawyers, vets, teachers".  I doubt that they turn up at ED.

Sure they are but ice is different.

Like heroin, the first time it is used it gives the biggest rush. Use it a second time and it only gives a glimpse of what that first taste was. But the brain remembers that initial boost only for a long time.

Unlike heroin, the come down from ice (even the first time before addiction sets in) is severe and lasts a week. That's why the body craves it almost straight away and why many addicts start because they take another hit within days because they feel so depressed.

Unlike heroin, the destruction ice does to internal organs happens as soon as you increase the uptake. Heroin takes a while before your organs react severely. With ice, your body is a mess within weeks.

Unlike heroin, a second time users can satisfy that craving almost immediately because ice is cheap and readily available.

Unlike heroin, first time users are likely to be kids in their mid teens whose brains are even more susceptible to changes and hormone releases. And a kid with standard pocket money can generally afford the $10-$20 repeat hit every week.

BTW, I am not condoning heroin (although I do agree it should be available for those that are ill outside of a hospital). I am simply comparing ice to what used to be the most frightening drug in our society.
