I don't like really healthy cuisines...ones that use lentils, pulses, nuts, grains in most of their dishes with half cooked veges.

I don't think you're alone there. It seems a lot of stomachs curdle at the thought of anything from the ocean. I was the same way as a child but I have acquired a taste for fish as an adult. I still won't eat octopus/calamari or anything else with tentacles or anything gooey and sludgey, hence why I can't stand Asian cuisine.
Joz, I am the same. The Asians have a knack for taking what might seem the most edible of ingredients and concocting a recipe that tastes absolutely foul. Aside from edible ingredients they also will eat anything with legs except for a table... *blerk*

No alternative in "the olden days".

Not that I don't like it but probably my least favourite would be Spanish, except it can't be because I love paella so I'll make it Mexican instead. Except I like chilli con carne.
I like all foods pretty much but not eye balls or tripe or brains.
