The following message has recently appeared on my Yahoo log in screen:
“Thank you for using My Yahoo. To help focus our efforts on core Yahoo product experiences, we will discontinue My Yahoo by March 24, 2014 and redirect you to au.yahoo.com. You can still access the US version at my.yahoo.com.”
Can someone please tell me what this means? It’s all very vague and the help site is of little use.
Does it mean that I’m going to lose all the contacts that I’ve stored in my Yahoo address book? Will I still be able to use my Yahoo email address and the Yahoo“Notes” feature? And will I still be able to use the email folders which I use to store important docs?
Thanks for any help.

Yahoo mail has been crazy for the last couple of months with their 'new look' interface.
I haven't had that notice - yet - but have a look at their members board and you're sure to
see something about it if it's genuine. You can also write to them and you will get a reply.
If it wasn't for so many ppl having my Yahoo email address I'd have switched long ago.

I havent had that notice, but I have had some strange things happening with it.
I am on Yahoo Aust, not yahoo US.
They changed their page layout a while back, I dont like it, but have been with them for well ove 14yrs. and everyone I know has that email.

so from what I understand, all Yahoo Aust users will be migrated to Yahoo US but they don't say what the implications of this will be
It's so confusing. I have 150 contacts and dozens of Notes and other imp info stored in Yahoo that it would be disastrous if I suddenly lost it all
I' starting to wonder whether I shouldn't just write it all down manually and then transfer to Google. At least Google should be more reliable

I also have a gmail account, and that seems reliable, although I dont use it alot.
I might transfer some of my stuff to gmail.
I havent heard anything about them changing, since their last change a while back..............why cant they just leave things alone?

You never know when you will lose electronic info, even for a short period of time due to a broken modem, computer, etc....if not permanent. It's a good idea to copy those files and print them.

You can forward them all to another email account. Then you can back them up.

You'd still be relying on your electronics working ok. Lots of things can and do go wrong with them. I've always believed that and when hurricane sandy came through I heard lots of complaining about that. I (and everyone else here) was without power for 8 days and I still had access to what I needed.
Paper is best for the important can't do without info. You never know what can happen when it comes to electronics.
