Who was it that said "What the heck difference does it matter, what kind of hat it was? What is the big deal?"
Just "setting the record straight".

You'll see it explains it is commonly mistaken for an Akubra.
That's according to your wikkie cut and paste.......lol.
Molly Meldrum himself, says a shop in Brisbane, Queensland,Australia makes his hats for him, as he goes through
around 20 hats a year....... the first hat he was seen wearing was a Stetson from Dallas Texas, because Lindsay Fox (Linfox Trucks)
brought one back for him..........

He's known for his trademark Stetson.

Molly says his hats are made in Brisbane........
You must know better than him.....lol.

Here it is, straight from the horse's (Meldrum...not WIKI) mouth:
7. Hats
My original was a "Billy the Kid" Stetson which Lindsay Fox brought back for me from Texas. Now there's a place in Brisbane that makes them for me. I probably go through about 20 a year.

It seems the Brisbane guy made Stetson hats for him, but maybe some Aussies can't accept this, and insist the chapeaus are something else.
Perhaps the hats in question are hybrids, but more likely our hat-wearer was walking a thin line to avoid upsetting his blokes/sheilas, and kept it vague.
But they look like Stetsons to me, and the guy clearly liked that type.
