I heard people were getting charged because the limit changed.
From what I read on my itinerary it is 10kg carry on.

The budget airlines are worst. I have never had anyone even glance at my carry on bags when checking in with Emirates, let alone want to weigh them.
I also wonder if passengers get more leeway with carry on luggage, with the full service airlines if they are members of that airlines frequent flyer programs.

I have not had bags etc., weighed either. They tend to be full, but within the size restrictions.
just flew Cathay Pacific. Members of their program had priority boarding but a couple of people in that line did have to minimise their belongings to board.
they did not say anything about my full sized, gigantic in fact, brolly ๐ I am not a member with them. First CP flights.

Hard to work out what you can get away with! I got done a few years ago,for excess luggage, returning to Aust from NZ $80. The check-in person was mean! LOL
I bought some digital travel scales after that.
