First they tell us that if Labor doesn't vote it out immediately they would call a double dissolution. Immediately apparently! Abbott and Hunt both said they were not prepared to wait until the 1st of July. No way! If Labor said no, that was it they said - DOUBLE DISSOLUTION!
Labor ignored them.
Then they said they weren't worried cause once the Senate came together, THEY would get the tax repealed. But if for some reason the sanate didn't vote it out, they would call the double dissolution then. The threat even came with a cocky statement from Abbot saying that if they were forced to call a double dissolution, Labor would lose the election so they would be wise to vote it out.
Labor ignored them.
And the senate voted to keep the tax.
So WHERE is our double dissoltion?
And how STUPID do you look when you make threats you have no intention of carrying out?

Prime Minister Tony Abbott has flagged the possibility of an election within 12 months if the chaotic scenes of this week's Senate negotiations over the carbon tax repeal continue.

The coward.
Makes empty threats. The same threats over and over. And then when it comes to the crunch he backs away like a loser.

Much as it pleases me to see Tony Abbott with egg all over his face, I think we need to be very careful what we wish for in calling for a double dissolution. Yes, we would most likely end up with a chnage of government, but what would happen to the Senate?
Given the success last time of a rag bag of single issue candidates, can you imagine what the ballot papers might look like this time round and what kind of a Senate we might end up with.
Every Tom Di ck and Harriet with an axe to grind and enough money to run a campaign will now be inspired to put their names forward and we could end up with a Senate full of shooters, hunters, climate change deniers, fundamentalist Christians and every other crackpot self interest group in the country.
Sometimes, alas, the Devil you know is better than the Devil you don't.

we already have that and in this case the devil was disguised and a lot of people fell for it, the disguise is off now and it is not better at all - they need to go before they do any more damage - environmentally, economically and internationally. Electoral laws are being changed anyway.

I was speaking with some banking people last November who indicated that that there might be a "correction" late this year.
