Why is Australia behind the times with recycling in 2013?
We have recycling bins provided by the council in which you can put a great variety of recyclable materials.
We have a council Recylce Centre where we can take batteries, light bulbs etc.
We have an e-waste collection once or twice a year.
We have a 6mthly large item pickup from the council. A lot of the stuff is taken by people (recycled) who want it before the council get around to pick it up.
There really isn't anything unwanted from our house that can't be recylcled. General rubbish bin just has food scraps in it.
We have been to the council tip once in 13 years to take a small amount of stuff when moving house.
I don't agree that those coffee mugs, that people can buy and reuse are a passing fad either. I know lots of people that use them. They sell them at the local Uni and lots use them there as well.

then there just may be some plastic component silverfaun. Just about everybody is guilty at some level.
How often do we throw out compters out? e-waste can be recycled.. which is what we have done with our stuff no longer needed.. we don't throw it in the rubbish bin.
Seriously, cheap plastic stuff available in large quantites.. toys, kitchen stuff etc (that breaks easy and isn't meant to last & it ends up in landfill) isn't comparable to a computer. Ever been to a Daiso store (huge) where everything costs $2.80 and 80% of it is plastic goods.?
seriously, the differences are marginal at best .. plastic is plastic, its the desire and incentive to recycle it.. be it couches computers or salad tongs. if people toss it they toss it. sf's unsaid inference that DS platic is worse somehow is a baseless accusation, not to mention hypocritical.
