While we're talking NDIS...

Should the LOO and his team been in attendance (they are paid to be there) for the introduction of the legislation yesterday?

I saw some photos of both times the NDIS was introduced. The first time hardly anyone on the opp side attended. Yesterday they all chose to ignore the event.

They should be ashamed, imo.  Abbott said it's (disability policy) waffly talk that should not be discussed in question time.

While we're talking NDIS...

Julia Gillard on Wednesday introduced to parliament a bill to hike the Medicare levy to pay for the new national disability insurance scheme.

Cats Back , did Tony Abbott not know that Prime Minister Julia Gillard was going to Introduce the bill in Parliament on Wednesday ?

What's this? Anything to avoid the subject at hand time or something?

For this one the opposition should have demonstrated they do care about people rather than turn their back and refuse to attend, for the second time on this topic.

Why were the government benches also not full?

Abbott and the coalition voted for the NDIS. It's passed, done and dusted. Move on to some other guilt trip, this one isn't working.

so the bill could have been passed 1 vote  to nil?

they had already agreed to vote for it.

what is the big deal?

they didn't need to or have to listen to Prime Minister Julia grandstand

The big deal was the agreement to finance the scheme, not about grandstanding.

the photo shows the chamber when the PM introduced the legislation in November with only a few opp MPs and yesterday's with only Katter? on the other side.

It demonstrates a contempt for disabled Australians.

What on earth are some here bleating about, apart from wishing to air their partisan thoughts sans knowledge  of the NDIS political process.
The legislation covering the scheme has been a matter for parliamentary debate/business from Nov 2012 17 times in the REPS, and 8 times in the senate. Political debate/process ended with:

The National Disability Insurance Scheme Bill received Royal Assent on 28 March 2013 and became law then.

That is 28 March 2013

So why all the "indignation" now,  over a scheme that became law 6 weeks ago?

Friday, 13 April 2012

The Coalition believes that the national disability insurance scheme is an idea whose time has come.
The Coalition will do what we reasonably can to make the NDIS happen and would accept a government invitation to be jointly responsible for this vital national project.2012

If any Cyclopian can remove their eye patch they might consider that Julia Gillard only introduced new bills increasing the Medicare levy to fund the NDIS, the bills have to now return to the House of Representatives for concurrence.

I am not sure what you are bleating about but I expect all MP's to be in Parliament when it is on.

I thought that's what we paid them for - obviously some of them think differently.

You will find that they are "in Parliament", but not just wasting time sitting on their bottom in the Chambers, especially when a bi-partisan bill is up for "reading", and by convention there is usually no debate on a bill’s first or introductory reading.

Why do you think there are "Bells" in our parliament?

T some it seems that the disabled are  targets and something to resent and be jealous of.. go figure ?
