Whispers in the Halls Of Canberra

Public servants in offices throughout the A.C.T. are whispering amongst themselves as to how savage the cuts to the public service will be.

Mr Abbott will do an " Audit " to justify his wielding of his axe.

If you think Campbell Newman is ruthless, you aint seen nothing yet.

I have a couple of ex work mates that are quite high up within the Public Service ( 1 in Department of Defence and 1 in the Department of Finance ) and they are hearing figures in the vicinity of 20,000 to be axed.:O

Don't be fooled when Mr Abbott insists these jobs will go by natural attrition. ๐Ÿ˜

If you look at his speech last night he alludes to cutting 6000 out of the Health Department.;-)

No point asking for links as these figures are what I have been told by friends in Canberra and these folk are usually right. Not scaremongering either, these friends are a good barometer as to what will happen just before Christmas.

God help us all if this man becomes Prime Minister. He will be Treacherous here in Australia, and an Embarrassment overseas.;-)

25.000 more public servants since 2007. There will be cuts, big ones, has to happen, so a lot of crying is to be expected on here after Sept 14th.

The first to go will be the 350 media pack in the PM's office. Fat lot of good they did her.

They came on here after the Qld rout crying & lying but seems it wasn't to be believed as to how many got the chop, mainly bureaucrats, fat cats & some mandarins, no big loss.

LD you might think that they are " No Big Loss " These people have families to feed, children to educate, and so on. Their lives thrown into chaos. What impact to do think culling this amount in Canberra will do to the economy of the region. ?

It will be decimated.

Who is They?

As to how many get the chop in Qld hasn't reached it's final figure yet as more are about to be " chopped "  from different departments, however the biggest cuts to come are again going to be happening in Health.

I'm intrigued by this frequent reference to the "media pack" that the PM has.

I found this: http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/news/opinion/so-many-government-advisers-with-so-little-to-offer/story... written by Dr Dean Jaensch (for whom I have more than a modicum of respect)

The Keating government had 21 staff specifically designated as media advisers, the Howard government 34. The directory shows the Gillard Government has 60. That is an average of two spin-doctors for each minister, but Treasurer Wayne Swan has four, and Environment Minister Tony Burke has three. How many for the Prime Minister?

And from the same article ...

The Government should be embarrassed about the data in the directory. The Keating ministry had 233 ministerial staff. This grew to 294 in the Howard 2001 ministry. The Gillard ministry has around 430 staff working for 30 ministers. That is an average of 14 staff each. Why so many? What do they all do?

I am happy to say it's too many, but why the exaggeration ?

With the fantastic economy the worlds greatest treasurer will leave behind I'm sure it will be easy to find jobs.  They have nothing to worry about. I mean who wouldn't want to hire ex-government public servants.

Skywhale doesn't care Yoda and neither does most of Australia, in fact most of Australia would like to see the fat and bloat cut out of the federal public service in Canberra

Agree, just ask Wayne how good a job he has done....

Abbott and the libs have also stated that his plans to shed another 12,000 workers through ''natural attrition''   NOT sack them...

For you Yoda the meaning of  Natural attrition (Natural attrition is a situation where the reduction in staff and employees occurs through normal means for instance retirement and resignation as opposed to firing and laying off. This situation is natural in any business Govt Dept or industry)

Unlike what Julia and Labor have been doing in Canberra over the last 18 months, how many jobs have they slashed?  What happened to all the staff cuts at the Dept of Climate Change Yoda? and the Defence dept and Finance and Treasury and Health and all the other federal depts that have had their budgets and staff slashed  by Julia and Labor.?  How many jobs have they (Labor) culled in Canberra Yoda?

And about time too, the public service is so over employed which is due to labor job creation like the ladies I wrote about at Centrelink who walk around with clip boards asking people who go to Centrelink when they walk in "can I help you". Not one but two in the same centre. What happened top the machine where you took a number and waited for it to be called like in the RTA ?

Keep it nice, I might cry if you write anything upsetting (like not)
