By overrated I mean actors, whom, if it was up to you, would never have made it past their screen test. I have made a list of top ten actors and actresses pre 1970 as well as post 1970 and also television stars and movie directors but you can just name ten movie actors if you like.
As for my list, no debating, accusations, name-calling or threats will make me change my mind 🙂
TOP TEN OVERRATED MOVIE ACTORS POST 1970:
Tyler Perry, Kevin James, Chris Hemsworth, Robert Redford, Denzel Washington, Sam Worthington, Burt Reynolds, Will Ferrell, Jamie Foxx, George Clooney
TOP TEN OVERRATED MOVIE ACTRESSES POST 1970:
Kristen Stewart, Keira Knightley, Diane Lane, Jessica Alba, Scarlett Johansson, Queen Latifah, Madonna, Jada Pinkett Smith, Jennifer Aniston, Rene Russo
TOP TEN OVERRATED MOVIE ACTORS PRE 1970:
Laurence Olivier, Humphrey Bogart, Clint Eastwood, Rod Taylor, Bob Hope, Lee Marvin, Peter O'Toole, Omar Shariff, John Wayne, Gene Kelly.
* there were so many for the above list(!) it was a struggle to narrow it down 😉
TOP TEN OVERRATED MOVIE ACTRESSES PRE 1970:
Betty Grable, Ingrid Bergman, Greta Garbo, Katherine Hepburn, Lana Turner, Doris Day, Eva-Marie Saint, Tippi Hedren, Cyd Chariise, Caroll Baker.
* the three names in bold above are actresses that I would place 1,2 and 3 most overrated actors male or female pre 1970 or post, including television, theatre, cinema and street performances in the history of entertainment. 🙂
TOP TEN OVERRATED TV STARS (MALE):
Drew Carey, Craig Ferguson, Jerry Stiller, Dr Phil, Ray Romano, Jon Cryer, Jerry Seinfeld, Don Rickles, David Spade, Michael Richards.
TOP TEN OVERRATED TV STARS (FEMALE)
Lucille Ball, Patricia Heaton, Ellen Degeneres, Wendie Malick, Sarah Chalke, Aisha Tyler, Kathy Griffin, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Kathy Kinney, Tina Fey.
* I didn't include many reality tv personalities in the above lists as everybody knows most are below consideration and are not stars.
10 MOST OVERRATED MOVIE DIRECTORS OF ALL TIME:
Roman Polanski, Quentin Tarantino, David Lean, Francis Ford Coppola, Barbara Streisand, Frederico Fellini, Cecil B. DeMille, Ingmar Bergman, Stanley Kubrick, Joseph Losey.
Enjoy 🙂 🙂 🙂

I'm sorry but I can't think of ten that I really dislike so I thought I would go positive.
At least agree with me that Braveheart was a crappy movie and that Mel Gibson is a joke.
I once spent an entertaining evening listening to his Phone Rants to Oxymoron Gorabanoxo on Youtube...

My main gripe with Helena Bonham Carter, is that she pretty much always appears in her husband's (Tim Burton) movies..
Can't stand Meg Ryan's face or her voice, Jennifer Anniston (more like Blandiston) is just average. I agree with you on Scarlet Johansson; always trying to show off how clever she is
Men
1. Tom Cruise (with the exception of his character in Tropic Thunder)
2. Ben Affleck
3. That bloke from Secret Life of Us who now does Hungry Jacks ads
4. Channing Tatum (not even that good looking)
5. Hugh Grant (Mr Blink)
6. Russell Crowe
7. Morgan Freeman (He plays exactly the same character in every movie)
8. Haley Joel Osment
9. Chuck Norris (Whatever, the guy's a hack)
10. Any and all of the Wayans brothers

Jees, it's like we're the same person. I actually like Helena Bonham Carter, only not enough to argue the point with you in my last post - her movies - ie her husband's movies, are always entertaining. There's only 2 on your men's list I wouldn't include and that's Ben Affleck - who I don't like but not enough to add him and Haley Joel Osment who was a sweet child actor and even though I imagine he's in his 20's now, I feel bad knocking a kid.

I can't knock Braveheart. The DVD was given to my two sons when they were quite young and they played it probably fifty times over the next couple of years.
I always loved the part where he sees his wife in the crowd when he's dying.

As for Clooney, very handsome? PUH-leassse... I always think he reminds me of a cartoon puppy with saggy eyes - I'm an eye gal - and I think his are ugly.
Yes!! I thought I was the only female who can't stand Clooney.
To me he is not handsome, he is too hirsute, and I heard that he likes men. Today's equivalent of Rock Hudson.

Can't you just say hairy?
So what if he likes men, are you a homophobe?

Hardly. I don't like people who are faking. Would rather they were honest.

I would make Cruise the number one crap actor on my list.

Worst actress is Nicole Kidman.
Worst actor is Jim Carey.
