Who here doesn't believe in Evolution?

I actually met someone with a science degree today who doesn't believe in evolution and KNOWS that all humans came from Adam and Eve.:O

"Why are there still monkeys today if humans evolved from monkeys?" is a common belief amongst creationists. Who here doesn't know the answer to this?

Who here doesn't think that evolution is the best explanation for all the different living species on Earth today?

Who here doesn't believe in Evolution?

I'm going out on a limb here... now just humour me for a moment ... I want to explore the possible reasons why God may have created simple 1 cell and 2 cell animals first and then progressed to more and more complex life-forms. Bear in mind that this is over some millions or billions of years from the first simple life-form to the most complex. And also bear in mind that over those same millions or billions of years the environment would have changed dramatically too.

I can see a kind of logic in that but it begs an awful lot of questions,   For instance, it can't have been simply a matter of increasing the number of species till the earth was full. Correct me if I am wrong, but I don't believe there is any species living today identical in every way to  those multi-million year old fossils. if they didn't evolve, did they all become extinct? Did God, as  I suggested before, periodically wipe out most of his creation and start again - and if so, why? Also evolution is not just about animals or even life itself. If the environment i.e. the earth, the rocks, the climate, was changing, what was causing it to change? If it din't evolve, was God periodically 'rearranging' it. and what did it look like when he first created it.

I do tend to believe that our thinking is very parochial...

We seem to believe that God and life began here and that the Universe is somewhere else and very different....

I'm not sure that is so and I think we have to search much further afield before we will come even near the answers of life and God...

I have put that question out there for comment. For one thing, how would the environment have changed ... according to science. Wouldn't the atmosphere (air quality if you like) have changed over that time? And wouldn't different life-forms have been more (or less) compatible with the environment as it changed? I am talking the natural cooling down of the earth governing the quality of the air, water etc. Come on you science buffs, now's your chance.

99.9% of all species that have ever existed have now become extinct. Kinda stupid if you're the designer and maker of all these species.

The process of evolution is so mind blowing yet so simple. It's such a brilliant concept that Darwin came up with on something that have fooled humans for thousands of years. Prior to that it was always God did it.

There're so many many many ways to disprove evolution such as finding a specie in the wrong era of evolution. That geographic difference wasn't the result of evolution.

I've even heard of creationist saying that God created fossils and put them there to test our faith. 😐

Even if there're no single fossils, the evidence for evolution is staggering. And our recent knowledge of DNA sequencing provides further evidence of the evolution of related animals.

I don't get your question. Please be more specific. What period of Earth are you talking about??/ What changes are ya talking about?

the whole ball game - right from when evolutionists say the first life forms appeared until now

I dont believe that.    I know of many religious people who dont.  How can anyone possibly know for sure?

Fortunately meep I am not constrained by religion and no, no one can know for sure, but then if you read all the posts here we can't even understand how life started here...

It's all a hypothesis, no one knows for sure 🙂

Not many takers in the scientific brigade?

OK, I'll put more specific questions.

According to scientific theory:

what would the environment have had to be like for the first life-form(s) to happen?  Single cell, water born I guess.

what would the environment have had to be like for the first oxygen breathing animals to happen?

how long between those 2 happenings? And what would have caused the environment to change so much?

was the evolution of the different species environment driven? I mean did the animals evolve to suit the changing environment?

what would have to happen to make an entire group of animals (dinosaurs) cease to exist almost simultaneously? When was this?

I am serious here .... would really like to know, without reading tons of books etc.

we don't know. This is abiogenesis not evolution. Scientists postuate it might have started somewhere with water. Since all living things pretty much contain water. Also a lot of chemical reaction occured there. THis is also why when they look for life in outer space they look for areas with water. But it's highly possible ET may be made up of something completely different.

Things don't just happened suddenly  It takes millions and millions of years for creatures to slowly evolve.

a long long time. Environment changes all the time. and also changes geographically.

was the evolution of the different species environment driven? I mean did the animals evolve to suit the changing environment?

OK, the key is random mutation and natural selection. You need to have some genetic mutation which acquires an advantage.  And the this change may favour its survival with it's surrounding enviornment.

There're theories how dinasaurs died one is a meteriote hitting the gulf of Mexico and the ash and debris blocked out the sun and plants died and so on so on and then dino died. They thought they died about 65 mil years ago.

My understanding above is at a basic science level. You can obviously read up on it.

or you can just save yourself time and just say. God did it. 🙂
