I actually met someone with a science degree today who doesn't believe in evolution and KNOWS that all humans came from Adam and Eve.:O
"Why are there still monkeys today if humans evolved from monkeys?" is a common belief amongst creationists. Who here doesn't know the answer to this?
Who here doesn't think that evolution is the best explanation for all the different living species on Earth today?

As to the OP, I'm with Az.
So you believe in evolution too coz' Az agree with it. Glad to hear it.

I have told you this before. There is no conflict between my religion and science. The Pope's astronomer said that he would be delighted if we encountered intelligent aliens and would be happy to baptise them 😄

Matter collects like condensation on ball into droplets and runs down the sides to a common point, then can't contain itself and explodes and creates a whole new universe.
Amino acids on many planets join, become more complex, some go on, some don't. Those that do evolve and some of those become sentient beings...explore their own planet. Some of those make it out to explore the stars and settle new planets.
Thier own planet has a limited life, so this insures thier species will go on. But so does their Galaxy. By the the time this happens they have mastered space travel and can now explore other Galaxies.
Galaxies collide and destroy each other, but by this time they have mastered space and time itself. They can now exist without the the stars and evolved into a higher life form.
Matter in this universe isn't actually moving apart faster, it's moving faster towards another common point....like condensation collecting on a ball into droplets and runs down the sides to a common point, then can't contain itself and explodes and creates a whole new universe.
They see the birth of a new universe and sometimes guide the new life forms without getting directly invovled in every detail...giving life a chance to develope....God?!

I will leave you with this because I know how much you enjoy reading 😄
Pope Benedict XVI's astronomer: the Catholic Church welcomes aliens
Highly evolved extra terrestrial lifeforms may be living in space and would be welcomed into the church - "no matter how many tentacles", one of the Pope's astronomers has said.
The senior Vatican scientist, Brother Guy Consolmagno, said that he would be delighted if we encountered intelligent aliens and would be happy to baptise them.
His pronouncement opens up the possibility of space missionaries heading out to the stars to convert aliens to Christianity.
Speaking on the eve of addressing the British Science Festival, Dr Consolmangno said he had no problem with science and religion co-existing together.
But he dismissed Creationism and claimed that the revival of “intelligent design" – the controversial theory that only God can explain gaps in the theory of evolution – was “bad theology".
Dr Consolmango is one of a team of 12 astronomers working for the Vatican, said the Catholic Church had been supporting and funding science for centuries.
He said he was "comfortable" with the idea of alien life and asked if he would baptise an alien, he replied "Only if they asked".
"I’d be delighted if we found life elsewhere and delighted if we found intelligent life elsewhere," he said.
“But the odds of us finding it, of it being intelligent and us being able to communicate with it - when you add them up it’s probably not a practical question.
“God is bigger than just humanity. God is also the god of angels.”
He said the characteristics synonymous with having a soul - intelligence, free will, freedom to love and freedom to make decisions may not be unique to humans.
“Any entity – no matter how many tentacles it has has a soul,’ he said.
However machines were unlikely to be smart or human-enough to have souls.
Dr Consolmango, 57, the curator of the Pope's meteorite collection, is a trained astronomer and planetary scientist at the Vatican’s observatory.
He worked as a scientist in California for 15 years before turning to the church.
He said "intelligent design" had been "hijacked" by religious fundamentalists.
"The word has been hijacked by a narrow group of Creationist fundamentalists in America to mean something it did not originally mean at all.
"It’s another form of the God of the gaps," he said.
'It’s bad theology in that it turns God once again into the pagan god of thunder and lightning.’
The phrase 'Intelligent Design' was centuries old and described the idea that God could be discovered in the laws of space and time and the existence of human reason..
The Vatican was 'very aware' of what was going on in the world of science, he added.
The Pontifical Academy of Science, of which Stephen Hawking is a member, kept the senior cardinals and the Pope up-to-date with the latest scientific developments, he said.

😉
I believe God breathed life into Adam after creating him from dust.

How do you lose friends over something like that?
I have friends that are Atheist, friends that take the Adam and Eve story literally, friends that are Muslim....Our beliefs differ but those are our personal beliefs. Real friends have respect for each others' beliefs. So how do you lose friends over personal beliefs? Can you explain that to me?
Hi meep, frankly I don't know. I also have friends from all walks of belief and have never ever run into this sort of thing before.
I had been talking about myths and mentioned the Adam and Eve story was a myth, they said it was a fact, we talked about that a bit, it led on to a discussion about religion, I mentioned that many people had forgotten that Jesus was Jew, and there was a deadly silence!
All seemed okay tho and they finally went home... that was it! I emailed them about something and their answer was unfriendly. I emailed as asked if they were alright... and nothing since... very strange, and we had been good friends.
I did remember one of them saying that 'Jews are our enemies' which rocked me a bit...but all I said was 'no they aren't'...
God knows meep, I don't!

Wow! How's that for ego? I assume he was joking?
Surely if they were 'highly evolved extra terrestials our beliefs would seem fairly simple to them, it would mean they would certainly know a lot more about life than we do yet.
There is a slow movement towards thinking that the human race did come from outer space tho, that we were not started on this planet but arrived here thousands of years ago and then slowly adapted to this planet's environment.
Could be true.

You shouldn't challenge someone's religious belief or their faith Darki. They can believe whatever they want despite the facts. Is that right?
I just don't think they should teach that to little kids.
BTW it's blasphemous to say Jesus was a Jew even though he was. I have seen faith so strong that giving people facts is completely useless. If it wasn't for the bible, where do some Christians get the idea to hate Jews.
Regarding evolution, there's tonnes and tonnes of evidence and with the recent sequencing of the genome you can actually see the family tree that Darwin had proposed.

Yes I think he's joking. Do you think Jesus also died for the extraterrestial's sins for them to need to be baptised and need to convert to Christianity???
The idea of seeding of life form from outer space is not a new one. How life can begin is highly improbable. Hence there's better chance if it did managed to start somewhere it's spread by evolved intelligent life form or spread via meteorites carrying these bacteriums.

I think it's easy.
Start a religion vs evolution discussion with both sides thinking they are right and that the other side is completely stupid for not agreeing with them and you lose a friendship.
There is no other topic as divisive.
