I actually met someone with a science degree today who doesn't believe in evolution and KNOWS that all humans came from Adam and Eve.:O
"Why are there still monkeys today if humans evolved from monkeys?" is a common belief amongst creationists. Who here doesn't know the answer to this?
Who here doesn't think that evolution is the best explanation for all the different living species on Earth today?

No she el, it's my definition of God, specifically!!...... Faith is subjective, God is something that believers look to when they wish to be "saved"....... After they are faced with their mortality!
But saying God is 'something to believe in when one's mortality is recognised' is like defining food as 'something to eat when ones hunger is recognised - it does nothing to explain the intrinsic nature of God.

......and yet that is exactly what I meant !
The "intrinsic" nature of God implies an entity in which I do not believe!..... I, therefore need to approach the subject with a cause and effect definition!........ Do you see my reasoning?

OK so, using the cause and effect definition, everything that exists must have had a cause, right back to the singularity that you call God. But then how do you explain the existence of this God and what exactly is it?.
I'm not having a go at you here, or belittling anyone's belief, but this is the question I struggled with for years - the one that eventually turned me into an atheist.
The nearest I have ever come to a definition of God is that God is the ultimate ability of anything to exist - but I find it impossible to extrapolate from that a sentient being who exists outside of time and space, created the universe out of nothing, and cares about each one of us personally.

If you don't like it you don't have to comment on my post, or if you feel the need to, may I suggest less agressive reply.
The same goes for you, if you don't like something or you find a title of a thread offensive; guess what? You don't have to comment or even open the thread if you don't want to
No one is making any attacks, but the fact that you are looking for attacks on your faith where there are none, you are just giving Atheists more ammunition...
If you find something offensive, you know what you can do? Be offended

I didn't think you were having a go at me, even if you were that is the essence of debate!.... Yep?
I expect you know that Icould get into trouble here don't you!
How do you define an entity that has sprung from the imaginations of people that need the comfort of believing that their fates are in the hands of someone that cares about them?...;. The idea is a cop out pure and simple!!....... Death, for many is too terrifying to contemplate, therefore human kind has dreamed up Heaven and a Heavenly Father to go with it!!........ This idea allows for an eternal life!! (how convenient).......... This is the simplest explanation and, I believe, the correct one!

I don't feel compelled to explain my beliefs but VS, none of what you describe is in any way applicable to my beliefs.

Az, I respect your beliefs and have no intention of trying to undermine them!........ I do, however, hope that you will also respect my beliefs and my wish to express them here!!

I respect your right to express yours.... just explaining that your post does not reflect mine......:-)

Thanks Az, we are all good then!...:)

God made so many different kinds of people.
Why would he allow only one way to serve him?
