Who is interested?

I have been contemplating starting a thread for Macro photography.

There are a few posters who I am aware of who would participate. if there are enough takers I'll give it a go

It wont be like pimpies thread, no challange, just a place to show off your achievements and an exchange of tips and ideas.

Here is one as a starter

I don't get the difference. Why not just focus on the far end rather then the middle then shift the centre of the lens? Wouldn't it be the same??

Pimpy this method gives you more control over the point of focus.

Example using this method you can soften the whole picture if need be by focusing on a near element in the picture and then using that focal point on some far element that is out of range of that focal point so putting the whole picture out of focus to any amount you want 🙂

I find that method very useful in portrait photography where someone with not perfect skin but nice eyes or hair is involved.

It softens the look yet highlights a good feature 🙂

The portrait is lovely, but personally I think there is too much light on the right. I get that it it used to mask any skin flaws but I think it is a wee bit bright
