The Americans think our politicians are laughable. Not all politicians, mainly the Liberals - the segment revolves entirely around Liberal Party stupidity. The exception is the One Nation candidate who we may as well place under the Coalition umbrella.
A whole segement and he hadn't even seen Silvio Abbottini's latest gaffes about sexy women and suppositories.

HEY....That's not true :smiley lol:. I don't ever remember hearing anyone discuss your politicians and if they did they weren't laughing.
We're loaded with ridiculous politicians of our own to laugh at. When I see them on the news I just shake my head wondering how they ever got into office.
Hell, we got Weiner not to mention France's and Italy's politicians to laugh at. Not really laughing....it's a little scary these guys are running countries.

John William Oliver is a British comedian, political satirist and actor working in the USA ? We don't need Pommie idiots satarising any of our politiians as I am sure the Pommie Poliies have made many more political gaffes than our polititians.

Who said we aren't the laughing stock of the world? - not me, anyway.
Lots of material for that to be the case, the islam country, the red wine and the ahem, suppositories, candidates with some sex appeal.. must be a political satirists dream material.

Politicians, is the correct spelling.

Jaymes Diaz did not just make a gaffe; he was not able to say anything about LNP policies, except "we will stop the boats". And few days later when asked again, and one would expect him to know the 6 points by now, he refused to open his mouth. Why should anybody vote for him, and how on earth did he get pre-selected?
And as for Stephanie Bannister; how ignorant do you have to be to represent LNP?

What area is The Daily Show broadcasted in, jimmeh?
I do hope they do another segment with the suppository gaffe etc.
Australia had its own versions of American politicians Rick Perry, Anthony Weiner and Sarah Palin.
He started with footage of the cringeworthy interview with Liberal candidate Jaymes Diaz, who was not able to name his party's six-point plan to stop the boats.
He contrasted this incident with a Republican presidential debate in 2011 when Texas governor Rick Perry was unable to name one of three agencies he was planning to axe.
Oliver drew parallels with New York mayoral candidate Anthony Weiner, who has been embroiled in sexting scandals, and disgraced Queensland minister Peter Dowling, who sent pictures of his ..... in a glass of red wine to his mistress
But his favourite talent was former One Nation candidate Stephanie Bannister.
"So, in just four weeks, Australia already has a Rick Perry and an Anthony Weiner ... of course the real test is, does it have an under-informed, right-wing woman thrust into a national political spotlight she's not only unprepared for but at times seems to barely comprehend?" Oliver asks.
He then calls Ms Bannister "a turbo-Palin", referring to the controversial Republican vice-presidential candidate in the 2008 US elections.
Ms Bannister was an anti-immigration candidate vying for the Brisbane seat of Rankin. She mistook Islam for a country and confused "haram" - a word that refers to acts forbidden by God - with the Koran during a television interview that attracted worldwide attention.
"I don't oppose Islam as a country, umm, but I do feel that their laws should not be welcome here in Australia," Ms Banister said in the one-on-one interview with Channel Seven in her Queensland backyard.

A friend sent me the video link last night. Funny as.
And today gay marriage is the latest fad according to Mr Abbott. Maybe they should hide him for the rest of the campaign. Although he may just be Labor's best asset at this rate.
