Why Do We Have A Federal Communications Minister?

.......Telstra problems get put thru to offshore/over seas. These call centre people make 'promises' that don't eventuate.

If you ask to speak to an Australian in Australia you either get told that 'we cannot guarantee that you will get thru and you might get cut off.....or.....the wait time is 30 minutes'

If you go to the Telstra Shop they tell you that they cannot assist/don't have the authority......with my 2 probs anyhow!

So call Malcolm Turnbull's office in Canberra and get told that 'the Minister cannot assist.....best to call the Communications Ombudsman'.....I asked why do we have a minister for communications if he has no authority? She replied 'Well Telstra was sold off during John Howard's era so Telstra is a private entity now' I further asked 'So why do we need a Min for Comms then if they have no authority?' I received reply 'Well, the Minister has to oversee the Communications Ombudsman to make sure that ....blah.....blah.....blah happens'

.....hence my question: Why do we have or even need a Federal Communications Minister?

What are we paying the Federal Communications Minister to do?........what exactly?

That is correct, the staff in the retail shops have no access to account details for phone accounts etc. therefore they can't look up your account details and see what is/has been going on.

Why Do We Have A Federal Communications Minister?

Because if we didn't have a communications minister we wouldn't have a communications department and my DDiL, and the mother of my unborn grandchild, wouldn't have a job ๐Ÿ˜ž

To try to sort out the mess left behind by previous government. The false promises made by an ill informed desprate aspiring PM and backed by amegalomaical conman cohort.

I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

You expect a minister of the crown to assist you with my favourite PRIVATE company,  Telstra?. Next you will be asking Airservices Australia to investigate secret evil overhead chemtrailing (in broad daylight).

Try these,  which are part of Turnbull's  portfolio:

Australian Broadcasting Corporation
Australian Communications and Media Authority
Australian Postal Corporation
Special Broadcasting Service
NBNCo
