Marriage Alliance angry after channels 'refuse to run ads against gay-marriage'

Ms York said the Marriage Alliance wanted to find out what impacts legalising same sex marriage would have.

“We so have to find out what ramifications there will be. What will be the effects, there'll be so little discussion about this,” she said at the launch last Sunday.

The group said it had contacted Prime Minister Tony Abbott and Communications Minister Malcolm Turnbull to make them aware of the decision.

"Has political correctness or the power of a certain lobby group reached so far down that it now erodes the once proud Australian 'fair-go' character that it is preventing ordinary Australians from having a voice?” Ms York said.

I guess the TV Channels have the right to refuse or accept advertising as they see fit. But this ad isn't really even saying anything for or against. It's just inviting you to contact them for further discussion.

It's too late for that Icy.  Do they want all the gays to get back in the closet?  They have put up with homophobes all of their lives and it's time for it to end.

It's time for same sex marriage for those that want it.

They don't need to inform me, I can tell them............absolutely none.......it's not as if the anti's have lost the right be hypocrites, mean-spirited, or homophobic.  They haven't had their religion of hate stripped from them, nor have they been banned from stores that cater to gays............They can still kowtow to the book of fairy tales, cherry-pick verses from that book to crow over, while selectively ignoring others.

Gays haven't been "in the closet" for a long time Joono, and same sex marriage won't end homophobia.

It's time for same sex marriage for those that want it.

Going by that criteria (those that want it) it'll soon be time arranged marriages for underage girls for those that want it, for instance.

Well you see now, right there, in your above post, you've used the kind of language and name-calling that has not been used previously in this thread or in the ad the topic is about, or has been levelled at same-sex ppl in general.

Which makes me wonder why ppl think it's ok to use it against the traditional marriage lobbyists. Who have just as much right to voice their opinion but cannot be heard.

he makes a valid point:

Let me make this point: that’s been borne true, because in England, if you go there and you want to examine what’s happening there, the Green Party is now considering lobbying for multi-member relationships to be included in the marriage campaign.

In Brazil, you are seeing judges say, ‘well, how can I logically deny more than one person to have the same rights as a married couple.’ The same thing has happened in the Netherlands. It is taking place all around the world.

If we are going to redefine marriage to include one section of the community that has never been included in it before, how can we logically deny others who are going to use the same rights, the same words, ‘You can’t choose who you love’, ‘we just want our love to be acknowledged and our relationship to be endorsed’. It’s a logical argument, and it’s been borne true by evidence in the lived experience overseas.

If you don't think those who would deny rights to all individuals (within the law) aren't mean spirited, you're in your own little world.......and that's the sum of my "name-calling"..........

Same-sex unions are not against the law. Have not been for a long time. Which planet are you living on?
