That's easy to answer why Australians are concerned. The Australian Government is pushing a policy despite warnings from Indonesia that they are risking cooperation. It's not about bowing to a much poorer highly populated country, we are better equipped to assist asylum seekers than they are.

As az pointed out, most people don't even know what the relevance of the sheep are anyway.
Concerns about Indonesia... it is best to have good diplomatic relations with your close neighbours.
