Why do people still follow Mormonism?

Seriously have you thought about why people still believe in a certain beliefs when all the evidence is against it?

Joseph Smith the founder of Mormonism is a convicted conman and admitted to making up stories in the courts. THe stories of Mormonism is so bizarre and the archaeological claims have been thoroughly disproven yet Mormonism is the fastest growing religion in the States.

How is it that people still believe when all the evidence and reason is against it?

I understand that, but when you actually start offering actual tangible evidence against their belief like their founder being a convicted conman for fraud and making up stories in his earlier years attested by family members as well as plenty of evidence ruling out pretty much every claim by the book of Mormonism  wouldn't the members start to get suspicious and start asking themselves what they're doing. Mormons have to give 10 % of their income before tax to the Mormon church.

What's the psychology or thought process of Mormons?

That would explain the proliferation of rusted on Labor supporters too 🙂

I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

When OH and I were first married we shared a house with an elderly couple. They were elders of the Church of Latter Day Saints. They were the chaperones I guess of the young men who were out here on their mission ( or whatever they call it). The man was the most bigoted person I think I have ever met. The N word was peppered all through his conversation. 😞

Mormons believe that black people are cursed because they didn’t side with Jesus in the war against Satan.  Apparently  they don’t hold that view anymore.  They didn’t deny it, just pushed it aside, to keep their tax exemption status.  They also believe that if a black person prays hard enough, they will become white.

So if that's true then the LDS are correct in their treatment of blacks.

You cannot call someone a bigot if their belief is actually true.

You mean if they believe their belief is true. This was a good many years ago, so maybe that attitude has changed.

I'm sure many members of the KKK genuinely believe that black people are imferior to whites and members of the Nazi party were equally convinced that they were the 'master race'. Does that mean they are/were not bigots?

Let me explain to ya simply. Religious people believe God gave us morals and laws, so if God says it's good like homosexuals are an abomination or that Jesus advocate slavery then that is considered good. Whatever God commands is good? God's rules. Can't believe you don't know how religious people think.
