Why is Abbott so scared of Rudd?

His overall dimeaner this past week has been interesting. He certainly looks anxious.

So why not take Rudd on in a debate as Rudd suggests? It might be a good opportunity for Abbott to promote his policies.

Tony Abbott - Policy 1 - I will stop the boats -  how?  don't know yet?

:^O

Your right it will be very difficult because it has been allowed to get completely out of hand by this present government which has allowed it to be open season.

They were to worried about our neighbours and did not have the intestinal fortitude to do anything to even curb the boat arrivals.

Maybe they were just to concerned with winning votes here and not worried enough about the invasion by illegal arrivals.

Tony Abbott’s catalogue of failures

20 June 2013

independentaustralia

...With an election date now firmly on the visible horizon, Abbott decided that maybe he should push a couple of policies out into the electorate. A bit of scaremongering about the cost of the NBN, coupled with a “cheaper” alternative, should garner some popular support.

Did he pull it off?

Epic fail.

The policy was universally ridiculed across social media — so much so that even the mainstream media were reluctantly forced to cast a critical eye over it.

Tony sits down to do a rethink.

Realising he simply can’t compete policy for policy he decides: No more policy announcements.

He will fight with what he knows is a winning piece of artillery. He will use the xenophobic hysteria around Islamic refugees to drive the fear of Allah into the electorate.

Abbott’s high-speed rail plan: “It’s not as fast as Labor’s plan, but it’s cheaper and will be built sooner.”

Trouble is, he doesn’t actually have a solution, just a mantra: “I will stop the boats”. So when some upstart asks, “how?”, Tony is stuck for an answer that doesn’t leave him sounding like Adolf Hitler’s first cousin.

While Tony’s scare tactics may have managed to convince some of us that a few boat loads of refugees are a greater threat to us as the First Fleet was to the aboriginals — has he convinced us he can actually stop the boats?

Never mind, the polls have told him the prize will be his soon enough – as long as he can keep from shooting himself in the foot – so perhaps he should just wait it out?

Well given that there has been so much in the media about his lack of public appearances, you would think he would come out just to prove his critics wrong.

I just want to hear what the heck his policies are before the election.

Well it's like this, we just know we will do better bbecause it's in a our DNA and you can trust us because we are not labor criminals and we know what's best for everyone.  We'll just have to wait and see what our policy is as long as we get rid of this bad government with their bad policies that will give money back to public schools and waste money on NDIS when we should leave it up to charities to fundraise for them. As long as we get rid of thsi bad government that wants the rish to pay taxes and will hurt Uncle Rupes business by sharing the pay TV market with new players and new news outlets.

cont'd...

There three things at which Tony has been unquestionably successful:

Understanding that he has scrutiny free pass from the mainstream media and so feeling no compulsion to release policy or costings.

Whipping up hatred, fear and anxiety in the population.

Removing policy from the agenda

and

lowering the standard of our political discourse to that of schoolyard bullying.

FGS give the party time as you would the opposition, this has been one of the 2 biggest upheavals in Australian politics .

What does that have to do anything with upheaval of the government?  The LNP has spent the past 4 years parroting that this government is an economic disaster, Rudd is giving them the chance to substantiate their claims, but they will not, because they cannot.

Rudd is the one who is busy to get his policies ready, and to reshuffle his cabinet.  TA does not have any upheaval in his party; has to just explain himself.

“I mean, Mr Rudd can recall Parliament if he wishes to have a debate. As soon as he names the election date, then the election debate will be in full swing,” he said.

So?  Whats the problem?

There's been a date all year. He has refused to go on Q and A for how long?

When did he agree to debate with Gillard? He didn't. He runs a mile at evey mention of debate.

Debating is what is going to be expected of him, even with LNP supporters, and he just isn't capable.

Rudd had to reshuffle his cabinet because most of the front bench (who despise him) quit.

Of course he has to make new policies after the debacle he has been left with after the JG years.

The Libs will release policies when they are ready, nothing the Labor party say will make the libs rush into making irrational decisions like any sensible party would do, no knee jerk reactions no matter how hard the labor party try to geode them.
