Surely in this day and age somewhere out there is a very smart person/s that can somehow create a new selling and buying
platform that can compete as well as ebay?
Ebay was created in the 90's so the technology now should make it easier to start another platform?
Or have Ebay recruited everyone that's creative enough to run their business and there's no one left?
Surely there is perhaps a disgruntled employee who knows the ins and outs and could jump ship and start some well needed competition?
And help all the poor souls that have been hard done by Ebay, myself included

People go with what they know, even if it's not as good. More buyers draws more sellers and in turn more sellers draws more buyers. eBay has worldwide online buying and selling locked down. A large automated site that is a success more because of the users rather than the creator/s. 7 billion people know what eBay is, maybe a couple million people know what Craigslist is. I doubt a thousand people have a clue what any of those others are.
I've bought a lot of stuff on Etsy, and there's more I plan to buy. Solely as a buyer I've found it to be a great site.
I've looked into Bonanza but many of the listings don't make it clear if they post overseas. Very frustrating.
If I'm buying for gifts rather than for myself I prefer BIN than auctions. Some companies also have their own sites so why would I buy from them through eBay?
Because I need to know for sure that my purchase will not be sent by registered mail (local) and of course the GSP is not an option for me (International) more and more I am looking for alternatives to eBay.
Some of the mail order catalogue companies are very good too.
