i don't see how they can do anything about it unless they decide that it is such a popular topic covering many different aspects that it warrants a separate board.

no but they could encourage them to start a group of their own and anyone who wished to talk about it post it in there.

no...that won't work. it would become a competition who has more members, who was rejected etc.....it would cause even more conflict on CS IMO

it would work i am not talking about a group on cs. a group what you can start up yourself away from cs.

The boards never used to get spammed like they have during the past year. Yes there were some political threads but not with the vitriolic attacks seen since last year.

I understand that. I am also talking about eBay Groups that CS members can create/join. Its been tried and from the comments I saw on CS, it didn't work very well.

Debate only works if there is a strong opposing side. Anyway the debaters want an audience.
Let the games begin
By the way if someone disagrees with your point of view it is not vitriol, it is an opposing view

After all, this is a forum, the role of a forum is to offer a venue where debate can occur.
To keep a forum vibrant an diverse there has to be differing views. As long as the rules of debate are observed it is a good thing.
Unfortunately more often than not people tend to attack the debater instead of the issue of the debate.
Some who think of themselves as having a valid view and if an opponent to that view voices their opposition they are dubbed as either vitriolic or reported for interpersonal dispute.
of course it is a dispute but on the issue and not the person, just their view.

My advice is, if you have a view, be prepare to defend it 🙂
