A US woman who was forcibly married to an 85-year-old cult leader at the age of 19 has spoken out about the threats she suffered while a member of the isolated sect.
Rebecca Musser has spoken to ABC News this week about her torture at the hands of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for 26 years and her subsequent escape.
After being raised in the sect, she was given away by her father to cult leader Rulon Jeffs, who had 64 other wives.
When he died seven years later, aged 92, she was passed onto his son, Warren Jeffs.
When she refused to sleep with him, he said, "Don’t you ever, ever, ever, ever tell your husband that again," she recalls.
"If you do, you'll be destroyed in a flash."
She fled and worked with investigators to ensure their arrest and testified 20 times before courts.
Warren Jeffs is now serving a life sentence plus ten years for raping a 12-year-old and 15-year-old girl.
Ms Muller has now released a book about her ordeal, "The Witness Wore Red".
"I didn't set out to break him – he broke himself. But he certainly didn't break me."

I read a book about another escape from the FLDS by Carolyn Jessop, it was gob-smacking.

There are quite a few books with similar themes, mostly by the same "group"
Mind boggling and hard to believe that people get away with that for so long 😞

There was a documentary about a similar event a few years ago. Just dreadful and how can they get away with it for so long.
