Woodstock 50

It has been 50 years since Woodstock.

And as they say ' if you remember the 60's - you weren't there '.

How many have gone - how many still here.

Given - the current ' lineup ' for August - I'm totally not sure it will come close to the ' Original '.

Well - except for Santana - Plant - Fogerty - and sadly very few others.

Over 3 days :

I must admit - I know very few of the 50's lineup.

Have some homework to do.

Hear hear.

Even though it's before my time, I managed to catch up on some of the music through older friends.

One of my faves -

Just an aside :

I did a search on those original at Woodstock - who had since passed.

Difficult - other than the obvious - Joplin - Hendrix etc.

Did find :

Sri Swami Satchidananda opened the Woodstock Music Festival in Bethel,
New York on August 15,1969 addressing a crowd of approximately 500,000.

1914 - 2002.

What about Melanie ?

Apparently she was the one that started the trend of getting everyone to hold up their lighters and wave them about.

And it was raining, hence she wrote 'candles in the rain'.

Edit - Re your Bobby mcGee clip - When men were truly cool and gentle.

Guitarist Alvin Lee who played in '69 passed away as did Richie Havens. I had the pleasure of seeing Richie play at Womadelaide about 10 years ago. Most of the artists who perform there do a signing for about 20 minutes. Richie sat there for a good 90 minutes signing, chatting and having pictures taken with his fans. What a gentleman.

I used to get literally hammered - for even putting Kristofferson - on the turntable.
