To get the ball rolling .....

Not long now, before we will have the opportunity to see some high calibre football.

Healthy, sweaty, muscle-rippling young men running around.........Smiley EmbarassedSorry got carried away there.Smiley Embarassed

I've got no idea of the rules  "Offside, onside"???

How many performances will be up for an Academy Award for tripping on shadows;? How many Miracle Recoveries from Injury will we encounter?  How many Ref/Umpire bad decisions will be made?  How many "shirt over the head" celebrations?  Will Les Murray commentate?  Will Mr Frank Lowy attend? Will a ref swallow a whistle?

Does Soccer excite you?  Will you lose sleep?

Currently, we have our sights on the Stanley cup. Ice Hockey.

Tonight is game 4 (of best of 7). Los Angeles won the first 3 games.

They are playing in New York.

My husband likes soccer. He is from Scotland. I think they are born with "the desire to win the world cup" gene.

World Cup

I'm kinda disappointed with the lack of enthusiasm and publicity on this. Sure we're the worst team in the comp but it is the World games.

Speaking of football, where's Meep Eve?

What an interesting start to the world cup.

Brasil scored an own goal for the first time in world up history.

Don't open the spoiler if you don't want to see the final result. Smiley Very Happy

Bob, I wouldn't say the worst in the cup but certainly the worst in that group.

Australia now have a chance to win against Chile if their star striker is out injured as announced.

Then maybe a draw with Holland and there is a chance, slim I know but sometimes anything happens.

Spoiler
Brasil 3 Croatia 1

World Cup ?

Make it go away. photo wail_zps70b0748c.gif

Every time you switch the TV on, there it is. Matches, interviews, sound bites, strategies, post-mortems, interviews - even the adverts are football orientated. It surreptitiously creeps into programmes that have nothing to do with sport, and almost half the news bulletins are given over to this boring and over-the-top event. Roll on the end of July until it's well and truly dead and buried - maybe

It seem it's only the TV stations that are in a frenzy about this circus. I certainly haven't seen any enthusiasm in the streets.
