Worried about my cat.... warning to some.... talking about cat vomit...

She has been known to throw up food... done it all her life so not worried about that in general as she does not like some brands or additives... BUT this time she has thrown up clear mucus... she has done that before when she has eaten grass but there was no grass in her upchuck this time...

she was sitting behind me when she did this and I didn't even hear her...

I went looking for her and when I found her she had thrown up again but had this mucus running out of her nose as well  and was just hanging there...

I cleaned her up and she was just really still and a bit angry at me for touching her...

she then went outside 4hrs ago and I have not seen her since... bit unusual as it is getting dark...

Anyone else had cats do this... and coming out of their nose (that is the part I am worried about)

I don't think she is doing a sad cat routine..

If that's the cat in your avi, I'd take it to the vet ASAP.  ;\

Thanks... I think she is going to be ok... it could have even been a grass seed stuck up her nose.. everything is in seed at the moment and the grass is at the height for a cat to sniff one in.

It is hard to say what could be the cause, I have nursed a cat with the cat flu yrs ago, & he was really sick. The vet then said, you can tell if a cat is sick by if they clean themselves, if they dont bother licking themselves they are sick.

From memory when mine had cat flu it affected the eyes and nose and plenty of sneezing & he was on meds from vet.

Being the your cat is 10yrs, it could be anything, 10yrs. is not really old for a cat, 15yrs is & I had a cat that lived till she was 22yrs.

Then again, it could be just a furball..........I hope it just is that.

Ooops, I was being facetious. :8}

Glad kitty is ok. (maybe get her to smell some black pepper powder to get her to sneeze)

Glad to hear she is OK. It could have been a blade of grass stuck in her throat - she may have coughed it up after she went outside. I don't know that the fact stuff was coming out of her nose was significant. It can easily happen with vomit.

I found out the other day that all tortoiseshell cats are female and if one is a male it will be a sterile one and not "really a male"

Just a bit of random trivia... my Tiny cat is a Tortoiseshell cat..

If the Cat is really sick, that second eye lid starts to cover their eyes, that is when you have to get them to the vet like now.
