Considering turning back the boats won't work.

There are some other good ideas like jailing all union officials and installing Gina as leader of the Labor party

Look, you can't sink the boats. Think of the international uproar. You can't turn them back because where are you going to turn them back to if the country of origin of these boats says "no way, José" ?

So, meet them at Christmas Island or wherever and give them a shiny new boat and lots of fuel and a map to Sweden. If they're genuine refugees, they'll jump at the chance.

If, however, they're people who want to sit in the sun and watch parrots at the expense of the public purse, and pursue their nefarious aim of world domination, then look to hear nothing but discord. 😉

There are thousands of people in refugee camps all over the world waiting for some country to allow them in. People arriving here by boat and presenting at the doorstep might be seen to have an unfair advantage. Maybe we could develop our resources in Antarctica and create a refugee holding camp from where a coordinated re-settlement program might be implemented.
