The first 2 I have seen myself, I fell in love with Athens the first time i went - the Parthenon is beautiful from all views as is the city. The pyramids weren't my choice but seeing them from afar with Giza in the foreground was a great thing. The camel ride however.....Woman LOL

What's so shocking? Haven't you travelled? I've visited ten of these landmarks and have seen them up close, including The Pyramids and Niagara Falls.

The Pyramids may appear very close to the city but there is a comfortable distance of desert sand between the city edge and the closest pyramid. However the Sphynx is right on the city limits and takes the full brunt of traffic pollution etc.. The good news is that there is a huge expanse of desert behind both landmarks and so it is still an effective sight.

As for Niagara Falls, I don't know what shocks you about the long distance perspective at all.

It must have been some time since you visited Giza then. Below is a picture of the light show at night, Giza can be seen in the bottom of the pic and the Pyramids aren't very far away at all.

Great photos Daydream.  Central Park is my favourite.  What a beautiful place it is.

I have never been to US but one of my nieces and a nephew have both visited and stayed in New York and they loved it so much.  Both would kill for a green card to work there for a while.

LOL @ the Pantheon and the maccas outlet.

I didn't notice it when I visited the Pantheon, I guess it is (hopefully) quite subdued in the context of the location, otherwise shame on Italian planning authorities and shame on McDonalds.

Well, you are very lucky then arnt you. No need to have such a snobby attitude about it.

I personally have not travelled to any of the places in the article. I have, however, travelled to many of our wonderful Australian landmarks and they looked just like the postcards show them imo.

I've been to New York and found it the most overrated city in the world, next to Paris.

The people are rude, it is crowded, stinking hot in summer, dirty, grey, colourless, expensive and in the middle is a giant expanse of dried brown grass and unkept fauna called Central Park. Brambles and weeds (and sickos) are everywhere.

Don't go there expecting lush green botanical gardens in the middle of a city. It isn't what you expect from a Woody Allen film 😉 No wonder he likes to shoot New York in black and white - can't see the brown grass!!! 😄

I beg to differ about your opinion of New York city. I've been there 3 times and love it. Have almost always been met with friendliness from the New Yorkers I've dealt with, and find it an incredibly vibrant and alive city. Central Park is just beautiful, an oasis in the midst of the concrete jungle.
