Home Made Meat Pies - You'll never buy shop bought again....
No real recipe..just make it up as you go along...
Make a gravy mince
I braise an onion, then the mince, and I add a spoon full of vegemite (great seasoning), some worcesteshire sauce, bit of soy, salt, pepper, whatever you fancy basically. Add a bit of stock and then thicken to a gravy (I do use gravox because it adds more flavour, but cornflour is ok too)...don't make it too sloppy....
Take a sheet of (shop bought) shortcrust pasty, spray pie tin with canola and lay shortcrust in, shape and cut. Pour in the cooled gravy mince, (use some milk to brush around the edges of the shortcrust, and then take a piece of (shop bought) Puff Pastry, and lay it over the top. cut around pie tin with knife, press down with fork.
Cut breather hole in middle of pie (one slit) and put in oven 350 degrees for about 45 minutes or more depending on your oven....YUMMY.
You can also freeze these pies, so we make up at least half a dozen at the same time.

me too.....I live in a regional location so if you can't cook it, you can't have it. Lebanese food was always my passion....used to bring home take away cartons of the stuff and eat that for two days...yum.
These days I make the lot = very easy when you know how and very healthy......Vine leaves, Kibbe, Falafel, Homous, Tabouli, lamb kafta, Lady's fingers, Lebanese beans, garlic potatoes....spinach & cheese triangles....etc etc.....my OH and I literally form a production line, play some music, have a beer and cook......and then of course....we eat

Thanks Cue :-x
that looks like my kind of recipe, we'll be tying that one out. Shop bought pies just don't seem to be the same as they used to be

bump
got that straight deb.....I got to the point where my stomach would turn just smelling them cooking...nothing BIG BEN about the rubbish these days....probably horse meat.
at least when you make your own you KNOW what goes into it, and you can put prime beef mince, not rubbish. the fact that they freeze with no problem is even better. we make up at least 4 in any one cooking session, so they're there to have.
I'll give you guys a great no fail turkish pizza recipe later....so easy, you won't believe it..
