There is an interesting article on the ABC news site on a new finding that it is very effective to put a bright hair scrunchie on cats to stop hunting of wildlife. It says that a 2 year study has shown the bright colour can cut down by 50% the amount of dead wildlife. My boy is in disgrace over the killing of a dove and is now in a bell collar.I may try a bright scrunchie if he learns to quiet his bell.
Very interesting I thought

I love cat threads. There should be more of them.
I used to let mine wander a bit in the back yard as long as I was out with them until one of them caught and killed a baby ringtail possum. After that, I bought a cat net and enclosed the back patio which worked until one of the bengals managed to find a way to get out and went missing for 5 very long days. Now they are all indoor cats until I get a substantial cat enclosure built which will be as soon as possible before I am driven mad by 4 whinging, whining, stroppy cats.
One [the baby possum killer] is harness trained so she takes me for a walk around the yard, another as a degenerative eye condition which has him slowly losing his sight, so, he is more at risk than any wildlife, the third got lost so she's grounded until the next millenium, the fourth one is getting old but since losing weight is a lot more active, although, she isn't very bright, plus she's not a bengal.
Before I ended up with the bengals, my cats were allowed to come and go as they pleased from sunrise to sunset when they were in for the night. I had a male tabby who was used to coming and going 24 hours a day for 6 years or so. He wasn't too impressed about having to stay indoors at night but after about two weeks , he was used to it.

Still no cat scrunchies available in this country. What's wrong all?

I'm adopting Fred from a pet shop tomorrow, I'll have to keep that in mind, although he will be an indoor cat, there is the possibility he may sneak out from time to time. He doesn't say much and he keeps saying the same thing over and over again, "meow" or something. I don't know what it means.

It means "Feed me NOW, peasant!"
