I can't watch it because I don't have NBN. I have scrappy Telstra Internet.

My son did school of the air when he was little. I can see massive improvements in how isolated kids are educated.

The radios often broke down, the reception was poor... there were 5 kids in that community with one radio and the main thing they learnt was how to make pfft pfft noises to pretend the radio wasnt working :^O

Yes, big difference. Today he'd be able to play with the Mars Rover simulator to gather and analyse Mars rocks.

That sounds fun!

I saw a thing on TV where kids at a country school were interviewing musicians with live, interactive video conferencing. The potential is incredible, such a shame it'll be out of reach of most rural people... even to get a phone connected costs a motza because the distances are so big, so I imagine Abbott's fraudband will only be affordable for business and govt corporations 😞

It won't be out of reach of rural students.  Most schools will be in fibre zones and they'll get satellite services at home. The new sats will be much better suited to their needs than what's available now.  At present we just get a small amount of rented space on other sats.

When first mentioned RDNS nurse thought it was like cartoons and far into the future. Now they are using it she is loving it and says it's had huge impact on service delivery.

I don't believe Tony's copper will allow such potential for rural Australia.. and the connection fees will be out of reach for most.

No, but the wireless and sat service will. There will be a choice of 12down/1up or 25down and 5up at first with both having the potential to be upgraded further.

The health session was interesting. The telehealth trial are progressing well with both medical staff and patients extremely happy.  Sorry about lack of detail, working away from comp at the time  🙂
