1986 D21 Nissan Navara towing a 1968 Viscount caravan vs 4 highway patrol vehicles....

Police in Coffs Harbour remain on the hunt for the male driver of a utility towing a caravan which led officers on a wild

chase through the city yesterday afternoon.

The pursuit began after the man allegedly stole two cans of energy drink from a local supermarket.

When police attempted to pull the man over, he sped off and did a U-turn across four lanes of Pacific Highway traffic.

Four highway patrol vehicles abandoned the chase when it was considered too dangerous due to the heavy holiday

traffic.

The driver was picked up 2 days later at Hungry Head reserve after the police followed a trail of empty Red Bull cans to

the scene

...when questioned why he was speeding he stated.....

"ya know ya got to get here early at Hungry to get the best spots"

In their defence opmania, our local cops do a brilliant job. I for one are glad that they did call off the pursuit. That stretch of highway is a nightmare at the best of times, especially now with the roadworks.
