I see in the news that the home where a Mother, Father  and two children were gassed in a murder suicide only a month ago on sydneys northen beachs is up for rent ...It will   be $750 pw .

I guess it would be very hard if you were the property owner ,they were only renting the family  that died ,  and I guess whoever owns probably has a mortgage to pay but Im not sure who would fancy living there so soon.

Makes me feel sorry for the owner ,it would be awful to be in that kind of situation if you really needed  the rent .

I know in NSW you must tell people if something awfull happened for 10 yrs after I think as we have several murder houses that have gone up for sale Ivan Milats place sold earlier this year and there were several where whole families were wiped out by one member.

I could never move into a house where there had been a murder.

I am not worried about ghosts or something but If the killer or motivation was not found I would always be worried  the killer may come back. Same if known gang members had lived there ,houses have been shot up by mistake well after the target has left.

I can't say it would be my cup of tea either. I'm not superstitious, just don't like the idea-and not at that price!!

Mind you, I have a son in the police force and he was saying most motel rooms would have had a suicide in them at some stage.

I don't know how true that is & I am guessing most would be drugs or overdoses, but it's not exactly enticing either, is it.

The other scenario I would not fancy is one where a dead body (even a natural causes death) had been in a house for a long time before being found.

Back in the past, most homes would have had births and deaths. The coffin stood open in the living room till the day of the funeral. Not always with great success in the summer months, according to my mother.

But a violent death/murder? Nope, I would rent elesewhere.

As an owner, I think I would renovate-painting, new carpets, whatever. Make it feel fresh and different and new.
