the answering service comes with my internet (voip) provider
im currently using a simple landine phone, it doesnt indicate any messages.. you have to dial in to check
im looking for a corded phone with a built in answering machine thats compatible to voip internet
any suggestions,? so it indicates ive got a message...like an envelope icon or something, anything that lets me know ive recieved one?

I have a telstra connection with a corded phone. If there are messages, my phone makes an odd beeping noise when I pick it up................... according to a guest who used it last week..............
I thought it was static

any message recording phone will do it but you have to set them, press a button, when you want them to monitor.
You can also get software for your computer to do the same job.

Can't you set up your service to email alerts or sms alerts on your RSP website?

You are more than likely right. What type of service do yoou have?
Do you plug the phone into your phone socket or do you plug it into a voip device?

Hey Joe.....
Have you checked with your VOIP provider if there's a setting to email messages? Mine does. Records them in WAV then emails it to me, plays back on the computer via any media player.
If I do feel like answering any of the few calls I ever get, I have a program installed called Jitsi, which is VOIP software. Either use your speakers and a mic, or a headset as I do. Your computer rings like a phone, a little pop up comes up in the corner, click on it and it answers the call.

That depends on the method of call conversion used. If you have a VOIP modem, then a standard phone works in it, the modem converts the phone to a digital signal.
If you need to use a dedicated VOIP phone, plugged directly in the socket, then you'd need a VOIP compatible machine.

Does it have to be corded for a reason?
I got a cheapie Siemens for home but it's cordless.
