On behalf of several members, and Lyndal’s family, it is with great sadness that we wish to inform the eBay community of the recent passing of member lyndal1838.
Lyndal was a prolific poster on these eBay boards. She amassed thousands upon thousands of purchases on eBay. Through her buying experiences she was able to help thousands of members in their time of need when an eBay transaction went pear shaped.
Even though Lyndal was not a seller she was very informed on seller issues through remaining up to date with eBay policies and procedures.
Many of us here keep our real life experiences private and do not discuss them in any great detail. Lyndal was not one to keep her life experiences totally private. She used her real life experiences to help others and often posted of her experiences in the courier industry. She often used her experiences in managing matters related to GST, ABN and other business issues, international money exchange, international posting and PayPal to name but a few. She referenced her family experiences when posting on animal issues, particularly where horses were concerned.
You always knew where you stood with Lyndal. This lead to some gruff exchanges with some members and it is fair to say that some members took issue with Lyndal's posting style. However, it is also fair to say that Lyndal never set out to upset or offend anyone.
Many years ago, Lyndal's ID on these boards started showing her as an "Honored Contributor" . . . much to her amusement. It was not a title that sat well with Lyndal. She only ever considered herself a "Community Member" like the rest of us.
Farewell Lyndal (lyndal1838)

On a personal note, some years back I was dealing with some issues in my personal life. I shared privately what I was going through with Lyndal and she was immensely caring and supportive and she helped me through difficult times.
I never met Lyndal, I never spoke with her on the phone. We only ever communicated on the boards, in private groups, through PMs and emails. Despite this, I treasured our friendship and considered her as a good, close friend . . . she was like family to me.
There is so much more I would like to say about my great friend Lyndal . . . but out of respect for confidences we shared I will refrain except to say that Lyndal's passing will affect many members on a personal level and the boards will be poorer for her absence.

As others are, I'm very saddened to find out about Lyn's passing. There were a few of us that were getting concerned about her when she didn't appear on the boards or answer pm's.
She was a wealth of information on both buying and selling even though she wasn't a seller herself.
Perhaps one of the finest accolades was being termed "Honoured Contributor" , though she wasn't particularly happy with the term.
Like SLR I had been in contact with her via pm's emails and a couple of phonecalls. She was very capable of calling a spade a shovel, and occasionally would get some (deserving) members backs up.
I'll miss you Lyn.
Vale my friend, give PJ some curry up there !!!!
Edit. OP at 18.38 nice touch Chris.

RIP Lyndal.
You had a good innings, but that doesn't mean it hurts less.
We will miss your incisive comments, your wealth of knowledge, and YOU.
