new call scam?

just got a phone call thanking me (recorded message) for placing an ebay order

my series 7 phone $399 will be posted... i hung up at this point

i have NOT ordered any phones on ebay (never would)

Yes, I got call like that but "from" Amazon.  I also hung up.  It was really weird mechanical voice; creepy.  And I am furious that nowadays I have to give my phone number for every  on line transaction.  There is a good reason why my phone has always been unlisted, and I am on no call list.

I've been getting calls from people claiming to be from the NBN, saying I'll be disconnected unless I take action. I just hang up, but I'm thinking of getting a loud air horn to thank them for their services.

Yes, Nicole, but she is a recording. I've also been contacted in person and I'm thinking about the air horn as a gift for them!

Just watch out for scam calls as those phone calls are generally bot generated to see if they have a live line that's still in use that the scammers can then call at a later day.

It's much quicker for them then having people/scammers checking if a phone number is "live".

There is another where the bot calls you and after a while it just says goodbye.

When I get these I just say to them " I wish you would hurry up and cancel my NBN, you keep promising but never do it, when do you think you can finally get it done?" That makes THEM hang up. Otherwise, I just tell them I only have a Commodore 64 and it is not connected to the Internet. The ones that annoy me are the recordings, because I cannot have any fun with those.

I used to use a whistle, but it hurt my ears as well.
