new submarines could be 'obsolete'

Australia's new fleet of submarines could be 'obsolete' when they come into service in 2030s

i would go as far as saying obsolete but even when you buy a new car (or pretty much any new product) its old technology really fast.

look at mobole phones!

improvements are constantly being added to just about everything.

remember when led tv first arrived?

then it was 3D everyone was told you must have, you never hear of 3D now.

i'm sure they sold hundreds of thousands of the wowee 3D tvs to the gulibles.

so i'm positive when our new buet subs arrive there will be other subs being built elsewhere that will be better.

but even those will be 'obsolete' when they get put in the water.

tell me, how old is the oldest sub america has in its fleet?

They said the same about the Collins Class subs.  As long as upgrades are possible hopefully the new subs will be in service for many years.

Think of the RAAF C130 Hercules aircraft. - many models and many upgrades.  The later model C130J is expected to stay in service until 2030.
