This reminds me of when we (the firm I worked for) used to type up the transcripts for Mobil's (?) yearly meetings. The participants were all multi-millionaires and didn't get where they were by participating in price wars. The chairwoman apologised at the start of one meeting because they weren't able to book the Sheraton where they usually stayed and they had to settle for the Hyatt, as though it was a third-rate hotel in a back alley. I can't remember what they talked about but I do remember they hated one independent who had enough money that he wasn't relying on selling petrol for an income and just kept the prices down to keep the others honest (or possibly to annoy them).
