Change my mind.
They are not! Cats can climb trees better, open doors better, trick you into feeding them, trick others into thinking you haven't fed them and do a whole lot of other cool things. Oh and they don't smell when you wash them.

But Caterday started over 2 years ago.....28/7/08
The Dog thread only started 6 months ago....19/4/2020.
And I think cats and dogs are equal....I like both of them.

I have had cats all my life (and only a couple of dogs - many many years ago) so I understand cats better and prefer them.
On practical grounds also, cats are cheaper to feed, the vet bills (vaccination for example) can be cheaper, council registration is cheaper, you don't have to take them for walks.....
For a not so active person - due to health issues - such as myself, cats don't care about walks. They don't generally attack people either (except for possibly pouncing on your toes from under the bed. LOL)
My cat also alerts me if someone comes up the driveway or is about to knock on the door....long before I can hear anyone. She's the closest you can get to a guard cat I guess. ๐
However, if you really need guarding, there's no doubt that's one thing dogs do better.
