"'Tis better to have loved and lost Than never to have loved at all."

Is this true?

Supposely you've had first hand experience of an ugly break up or divorce, would you go back and do it all over again given you know the end result?

"'Tis better to have loved and lost Than never to have loved at all."

it takes two different people to experience both, so the answer is hard to know.
