Technically no. You should have allegiance to the country of your birth and ancestry. But with all the migration and displacement of ppl since, well, at least WW1, it's hard for ppl to seperate their loyalities for one or another. And dual citizenship is handy to have, I imagine.

I think, suffice it to say, if you have loyalty for your country of origin and contempt for the country you have settled in, to the point where you actively engage in activities that are damaging to it, you should have no regret when you are stripped of your adopted country's citizenship. Especially when you've only gone through the ceremony in order to be able to claim it's many benefits.

Where did you get that from?  Re suspected terrorists? I suppose that could fit in with them, but not  in general for 99.99% of applicants that gain Aust citizenship.

Suspected terrorists  can be born in Australia - automatic citizenship.... so nothing to strip from them!

Especially those in the younger age group teens/early 20's,  who are most likely to have been born here.

My partner has been here since he was 2 years old...he was born in a Displaced Person Camp in Germany....his parents are Polish and he holds both an Australian and an Polish passport.

He has been an Australian since he was very young and the only benefits he gets are a DVA pension...he is deaf due to an incident when he was in Vietnam in 1968...I think he has more than earned what he does get.

Is he engaged in anti-Australian activities? I'm guessing, seeing he was fighting in Vietnam on behalf of Australia, no. Perfectly entitled to his pension.

I don't see any likelihood of him being stripped of his Aus citizenship.

End of.

Your other post wasn't clear icy, it looked like you were accusing all people who take out citizenship of only doing so to get  ' the benefits it offers' ( what ever according to you those benefits are!)

Same as all the Eu bludgers want to go to the UK- they have the freedom to move to UK, study at Uni's there etc. Blame whoever allowed that to be law. if you don't approve of it.

I was referring to AS, not migrants. Migrants tend not to come by leaky boat that they sink themselves LOL

Blame it on the EU, non elected rat bags dictating to sovereign countries. Quite a few EU countries are now questioning
Some of what the EU is dictating.

It will change soon, the UK has told the EU to stick some of their rules.

icy was talking about  people who are eligible for  and gain Austrailan citizenship - that isn't limited to Asylum seekers.

You can't blame EU citizens who move to Britain when they are only doing what the law allows them to do.

Record every hour (at least) all night from late evening to near dawn (not including all day etc)

I wonder how many people there will be in the future that the Govt wants to strip them of dual citizenship, but they are actually born in Aust and have no dual citizenship to strip.. what is the Govt  going to do then?

Doesn't seem to be the solution to the whole issue. If suspected terrorists from Australia are born in Australia then it is not a threat to them to conform.
