Read the article, mrgrizz.

he has MND

He was hoping he had reached the stage where his breathing reflex would not kick in, if he held his breath long enough, and he would have a respiratory arrest and then a cardiac arrest.

death in someone with MND is normally from respiratory failure

as he had a tracheostomy performed, he must have been suffering some degree of respiratory failure.

Very sad in any case, an awful disease

And so?

The poor man.

Brightness has nothing whatsoever to do with it, just deep depression.

Leave him be.

I think he is an incredibly brave person to reveal that at one time in his life he felt like he couldn't continue.  He won't be the first or the last to feel that way but I do think that we need to be very careful about ensuring people have the right supports in place at a time when they need it.  Anyway more power to him, he is brilliant and I am glad he didn't succeed in his efforts.
