After a long time away I return and all I can see is a plethora of political discussions. And most of them saying exactly the same thing. A multitude of copying and pasting from a couple of posters in particular in what seems like an endless stream of anti labor party threads day in and day out.
And the thing is the same topic is often repeated. For example boat people discussions. Why on earth don't those wishing to constantly harp on about them simply find an old discussion about the topic and continue posting on there instead of creating new ones? Or why not set up a topic and call it the "We hate the Labor Party and Julia Gillard because" and add to it every time you find something else to feel obligated to copy from elsewhere and paste here. That way all the discussions are in one place.
This place used to be entertaining, instead it seems to have turned into a anti Labor party discussion forum with a few other threads thrown in which disintegrate into stoushes between posters on here.
Though you lot were all adults? Some of the nastiness going on here is just out and out bullying. Little groups of nasty little girls and boys picking on certain people. Others taking delight in saying that they have screen saved a certain post by someone, no doubt so it can be used against that person another time.
I remember days when there was a lot of laughter happening here.
Seems like there are a certain group of posters who have decided they are in control and woe betide anyone who disagrees with what they post.
And no doubt they will be attacking me for venting here.

Nasty and vindictive. Yes that would be right.

I agree yatpea, the place is broken.
Yep.. Sure is !

I also do not remember you YP, and I go back to 1999 with eBay.
"I remember days when there was a lot of laughter happening here." also quite a lot of individual and gang vindictiveness, especially in the early period when there were no report buttons.
The highs and lows were certainly greater back then (Friday nights!!!), but life evolves, and now we have many helpings of political and social porridge and an ostrich function for the "sensitive" .
C'est la vie

I agree too, yatpea.......all the fun has gone.
I post on 2 threads regularly & occasionally like this, if something interests me.

I joined ebay in 2002 but I was not a poster on the discussion boards. I just read them and had a fair few laughs. And I have not had any other user name other than this one.
One long running thread I remember was Days of our Ebay Lives or something like that.
This was back in the days of Chinwag.
I can see that people do attempt to have some fun on here but posts are deleted and the thread dies a quick death.
So many people just do not have a sense of humour.
I don't recall the gang vindictiveness that you have spoken of monman, I think it's a lot worse nowadays. The past few weeks have seen my eyebrows raised a few times as I see little gangs going against one person, mocking them, saying nasty things about how they have screenshots as evidence etc.
The only other discussion forums I remember are Chinwag, Member to Member, Round Table. [I may have forgotten a couple.].
There was a depression thread that was very nice too.
I get enough politics on the news and in newspapers. I think this place certainly would benefit with a separate political discussion forum. Has this ever been suggested?

I quite enjoy the boards. It's nicer now than it was this time last year.

Days of our ebay lives did not start on chinwag. It was an RT thread that was moved to chinwag. I was an early poster on it but dropped out when it became too chinwaggy.

I did not realise that. I only ever saw it on Chinwag. I didn't venture into Round Table discussions very often.

It is indeed a very different environment nowadays.
